| Brief History |
- Baliangao was originally a part of Dapitan (Zamboanga del Norte)
- It was one of the nine original towns of Misamis Occidental when Act No. 3537 on November 2, 1929 divided the old province of Misamis into Misamis Occidental and Misamis Oriental.
- The town’s name was derived from the word balay sa langaw meaning “house of flies.”
